For a base layer to be effective it must keep you warm and dry.  This is guaranteed by the merino woll / poly mix fabric of the base layer. Its comfort is proven by science and our own experience.  
 
When worn underneath a garment, the baselayer will draw moisture away from the skin and transfer it to the outlayer of the wool garment, the end result is that you stay warm and dry. Wear under any of our cycling jerseys for added cold protection.
 
So comfy against the skin, you may be forgiven for cosying up with a book and postponing your ride.
